The aim is to give women aged 35 and over lifelong access to half an acre or more of land (depending on the region) where they can plant and maintain a layerd fruit orchard while they are still able to work. As the women grow older, the matured orchard can provide both food and income.

The women will not own the orchard outright. Instead, they are allowed to lease it for life through a very low to zero rent contract. At their death, the contract ends, so, the orchard remains property of the local NGO rather than becoming part of her own estate. Informal agreements of family title deeds cannot be applied.

The local NGO then takes back the maintenance of that property to raise income for itself for investing in the expansion of land ownership for leasing new land out to other women. Thus, in long-term the local NGO will keep on growing from profits of retained properties, even without new donations.

The local NGO should not grow unlimited. At a certain size, the local NGO would get too much power. So, it must be in the constitution of incorporation that every time a local NGO has for example 500 women under contract, the organization must split into two independent NGOs of around 250 contracts, each with its own independent board.

The two local NGOs must then create an umbrella organization, with supervisory tasks to monitor the balance between the NGOs and defend their common interests. Thus, the initiative may grow further towards an international Africa-wide network of local NGOs of Pension Orchard for Women properties.
